Privacy Policy

What we collect, why we need it, who else sees it, and what you can ask us to do about it.

PlateMaster is operated by Iris Marketing & Resources, 1-A-18 Bazaria Wangsa Maju, 53300 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This policy is governed by Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA).

What we collect

When you contact us

If you fill in our enquiry or notification form, we collect your name and WhatsApp number, and whether you agreed to hear about future listings. If you message us on WhatsApp directly, we hold that conversation and your number.

When we register a plate to your vehicle

If you buy a number from us, we also collect what JPJ requires to complete the transfer: your full name as it appears on your identity card, your IC number, your address, and your vehicle's registration and ownership details. We cannot complete a transfer without these, because they are what JPJ's forms ask for.

When you browse

Like most websites, we collect anonymous usage data: the pages you view, the plate numbers you search for, which buttons you press, your approximate location at city level, your device and browser, and how you reached us. This is not linked to your name, and we cannot identify you from it.

We do not collect payment card details on this website. Any payment is arranged directly with you.

Why we need it

The short answer is that we are not only selling you a number, we are registering it to your vehicle at JPJ on your behalf, and that is paperwork in your name.

A registration number belongs to a person and sits on a specific vehicle. To move one from a seller to you, JPJ needs to see who is receiving it and which car it is going on. If we did not hold your details we would have no way of knowing which customer owns which number, which transfer belongs to whom, or who to hand the completed documents to.

So we use your information to:

Who else sees it

We do not sell your data, and we do not pass your name or number to other dealers or marketers.

Two groups necessarily see some of it:

JPJ and the transfer process

Completing a transfer means submitting your details to the Road Transport Department (JPJ), and arranging a PUSPAKOM inspection where one is required. This is unavoidable, it is the service you are buying, and we only submit what the forms ask for.

Services that run on this website

ServiceWhat it sees
Google AnalyticsAnonymous usage data
Microsoft ClarityAnonymous usage data, including recordings of how pages are scrolled and tapped
Google AdsWhether a visit led to an enquiry
WhatsApp (Meta)Your message and number, once you choose to message us

About those recordings. They capture mouse movement, scrolling and taps so we can see where the site is confusing. They do not capture anything you type into a form field, and they are not linked to your name.

Our own servers also keep a record of searches and button taps against a random visitor code. That code is not your name and cannot be traced back to you.

How long we keep it

WhatHow long
Enquiry detailsWhile we are in contact about a number, and up to 2 years afterwards in case you come back to us
Transfer and registration records7 years, as Malaysian tax and business record-keeping rules require
Anonymous usage dataUp to 14 months

Your rights under the PDPA

You may ask us at any time to:

To do any of these, message us on 013-300 0055 or 013-300 0070, or write to the address above. We will reply within 21 days, as the PDPA requires.

You can withdraw consent at any time. It costs nothing and we will not ask you to justify it.

One limit worth being straight about. If we have already completed a transfer for you, we cannot delete that record before 7 years have passed, because we are legally required to keep it. We can still stop contacting you, and we will.

Cookies and tracking

We use cookies and similar technology for the services listed above, and to remember small things such as which numbers you shortlisted. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work, although your shortlist will not be remembered.

Children

This site is intended for adults buying vehicle registration numbers. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

If we change this policy we will update the date below. Material changes will be announced on our homepage.
